As reported by The Indian Express, the airlines, in a statement, said that the new scheme is aimed to aid “offset revenue losses experienced in 2020” [and] “leverage higher capacity in superior cabins.”

After booking tickets for economy or premium economy class, passengers can make an offer to get a seat in the higher cabin. They can make this offer seven days before the departure of their flight. The airlines will notify passengers if their bid is accepted before their departure.

As reported by The Indian Express, Vistara CEO Vinod Kannan said, “With support from Plusgrade, more passengers will have access to the personal space, comfort, privacy and high-end service that come with a premium experience.”

As of now, Vistara airlines has 43 aircrafts in their fleet, where most of the carriers are bifurcated in a three-class configuration — business, premium economy and economy.

While India resumed domestic flights on May 25, after a two-month-long hiatus, international flights are still suspended.

However, special international flights under Vande Bharat Mission or air bubble arrangements with other countries continue to operate.
