Vistara—a joint venture between Tata Group and Singapore Airlines—is set to mark its foray into the international skies with their recently announced special flights between London and New Delhi. Announced on August 18 in a release, these new connections have been made as part of the bilateral ‘transport bubble’ formed between the two countries. Starting August 28 till September 30, the full-service carrier is expected to run three flights between the sectors every week, with fares starting at INR 29,912 (New Delhi to London).
For this, the airlines is set to deploy its new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft. “The arrival of our second Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner further strengthens our fleet and underlines our commitment to expanding globally. There is an inherent need for an Indian carrier with a modern fleet, world-class cabin products and onboard service to fly non-stop on long-haul routes,” says Leslie Thng, Chief Executive Officer, Vistara in a release.

Aware of the safety concerns of their passengers, the release also states that the airlines has introduced new food and beverage services, and extensive sanitisation works of all surfaces and touchpoints after every flight. Additionally, the release also states that all cabin crew will don personal protective equipment (PPE) and avoid non-essential interaction with passengers. Reportedly, the aircrafts also come equipped with powerful HEPA filters that trap viruses, bacteria, and fungi.
Thng welcomes this reopening saying, “As the world starts opening up in a phased manner following an extended global lockdown, these special flights give us the privilege of facilitating travel between the two countries. We are confident that travellers will appreciate having the choice of flying India’s only five-star airline to and from London, which also upholds the highest standards of safety and hygiene.”
London aside, Vistara is also seeking necessary regulatory approvals to soon operate similar special flights to Paris, France and Frankfurt.
