Starting today, you can access social media, watch movies, send emails, download files, and more, while flying, with Vistara’s In-flight Wi-Fi services. By Tanvi Jain

Vistara has from today, started offering in-flight Wi-Fi internet connectivity onboard international flights operated by its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, on flights between Delhi and London’s Heathrow Airport, thereby, becoming the first Indian airline to do so.
“Staying connected onboard is a new feeling. Introducing Vistara Wifi on our Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner™ starting tonight on our flight to London Heathrow. Use our complimentary Wi-Fi for IM, email, social media and web browsing. #FlyHigher #VistaraWiFi,” Vistara mentioned on its official twitter handle.
As an introductory offer, the service will be available free of cost to all Vistara flyers for a limited period. The airline also plans to soon introduce the service on its Airbus A 321 neo aircraft, post regulatory approvals.

“We are delighted to offer on-board Wi–Fi internet connectivity, which takes our onboard travel experience to global standards. We are also glad to be the first Indian carrier to be able to offer this service to our customers. We truly hope our customers enjoy this new addition as we continuously strive to surpass their expectations,” Vistara’s Chief Commercial Officer, Vinod Kannan, says.
The state-of-the-art wireless connectivity system by Panasonic Avionics on Vistara’s Dreamliner allows passengers to access the internet on all Wi-Fi enabled mobile phones, tablets and laptops, hence allowing them to stay seamlessly connected even at 35,000 feet above the ground.

However, as long as the airline is offering the service free of cost, it will gather information on system functionality and feedback on the overall customer experience to further fine-tune the service. The tariff plans for the same will be announced in due course.
Moreover, the airline’s In-Flight Entertainment (IFE) system, further allows those on-board to access a rich multimedia library of nearly 700 hours of engaging content that includes, movies, TV shows and audio compilations of various genres, as well as games.
