Travel essentials for Road trips in India –

Mask Up!

Well, this goes without saying—cover your face with a mask before you start that road trip in India. It’s good you are jumping the bandwagon but it is equally important to be cautious while doing so. Make sure to change your mask every 12 hours in case you are off for a long road trip, and carry along enough masks. Also, use an alcohol-based sanitiser, wash your hands frequently, and carry pairs of washable gloves to reduce the chances of infection.

Wipe It Off

Arm yourself with a good disinfectant, some wipes, and a disposable bag for cleaning the dashboard, steering wheel, seat belt buckle, and gear shift, since these are the most-touched surfaces in a vehicle. Sanitise the door handle every time you get in or out of the car. Once done wiping everything squeaky clean, you can dump it in the disposable bag while on the move.

Coverall Is The New OOTD

While the idea of covering yourself up from head to toe on a road trip might sound a tad too much, wearing coveralls or full-sleeved shirts and full-length trousers will reduce the risk of virus spread. Pack smart—keep scarves, sunglasses, caps, and zippers. Carry an extra bag to keep your unwashed clothes separate.

First-Aid Comes First

Apart from the usuals—basic medicines, band-aids, crepe bandages, muscle relaxant, and anti-allergens—remember to carry a thermometer in your first-aid kit. Keeping a track of your body temperature and overall health is a habit you might want to stick onto.

Say No To Road Blocks

The ideal way to gear up for a road adventure is to get complete servicing of your car done beforehand. But keeping a car kit (with fundamental tools, hydraulic jack, puncture repair equipment, jump starter or jumper cables, and an LED torch) handy is still a smart move to avoid an emergency breakdown.

Slippers Over Fancy Footwear

Safe is the style you must pick for this road trip season. Ditch your expensive loafers and opt for washable slippers. Not only would they be comfier but cleaning them at regular intervals would also help to keep the virus away that thrives on surfaces.

All Charged-Up!

Do keep a car charger or multi-port power back to keep the batteries of your gadgets alive while taking road trips in India. A dead phone is probably the last thing you want, especially when digital payments and social distancing are the new normal.

Snacks On The Go

It’s probably a good idea to steer clear from eating out at a local eatery or Dhaba while on the move. Pack healthy snacks, non-perishable food items, and enough bottles of water or juices to keep hunger pangs at bay. You can even keep some disposable cutlery for a convenient, hassle-free on-the-go meal.
