Ever since the pandemic hit us, the travel and hospitality industry has introduced various initiatives to lure travellers once again. While most have restricted themselves to free COVID-19 tests or extended stay packages, this hotel chain in Mexico has gone the extra mile: paying for your stay.
According to the Palace Resorts’ official website, all the properties by this Caribbean hotel chain will offer guests a complimentary 14-day quarantine, should a guest test positive for Coronavirus during check-out. However, this service is applicable only to international tourists staying for a minimum of four days. Notably, Palace Resorts and Le Blanc Spa Resorts (the chain’s adults-only, all-inclusive resorts in Cancún and Cabo) will extend the complimentary stay for up to two guests, should both test positive.
If a guest wishes to isolate themselves from accompanying family members who didn’t catch the Coronavirus, then the guests can avail of additional rooms at USD 199 (approximately INR 14,400) per night for up to four people. The guests isolating, then, will be transferred to the resort’s designated COVID-19 area.
The website further notes that if a guest tests positive again after the 14-day quarantine, a discounted rate of USD 199 (approximately INR 14,400) per night will be offered. Moreover, guests departing from the resort can avail of COVID-19 PCR tests upon request at an additional fee.

However, Mexico’s Palace Resorts aren’t the only ones to offer such lures to their guests. According to AMResorts’ official website —a luxury hotel chain with properties across Mexico, the Caribbean, Panama, Curaçao, Saint Martin, and the Dominican Republic—guests can avail of a free 14-day quarantine post the original departure date, should the guest test COVID-19 positive. This, however, is only applicable to guests who have booked at least three nights stay.
