1. Shivrajpur Beach, Jamnagar, Gujarat 

Located on the Arabian coast, in the vibrant state of Gujarat, near the pilgrimage site of Dwarka, the Shivrajpur beach is taintless and allows you to witness clear sapphire waters and glistening white stretches of sand. The Shivrajpur beach is not very commercialised, which further adds up to its charm. It also offers scuba diving for you to experience the rich underwater marine life. On the beach, stands an ancient lighthouse built by the ruler of Kachchh, Maharaj Deshalji, in the 1700s. You can even spot dolphins here 

Getting there: The nearest airport is in Jamnagar and the nearest railway station is the Dwarka Railway Station. By road the beach is 12 kilometres from Dwarka.  

Where to stay: Club Mahindra Dwarka  

Price: INR 4,000 per night for two  

Nearby attractions: Dwarkadish temple, Marine National Park, Bet Dwarka, Pirotan Island, etc.

2. Ghoghla BeachMandavi, Diu 

The Ghoghla beach is located in the northern part of Diu, in the Ghoghla village of Daman and Diuon the west coast of the country. Apart from being the largest beach in the region, it is also known for its gleaming golden beaches. It is located in the outskirts, with just a few small eateries and shacks, which makes it apt for those looking for some alone time away from the crowds. If you are a water sports enthusiast but don’t like waiting in a long queue, this is the place for you. Parasailing, speed boating, jet skiing and banana rides are some of the adventure sports you can try here. 

Getting there: You can either catch a flight to the Diu domestic Airport or board a train till the Veraval Junction Railway Station.

3. Kasarkod BeachKasarkod, Karnataka 

Located in the port town of Honnavar in Kasarkod village in Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka, the Kasarkod beach is surrounded by a forest of casuarinas. It is one of the cleanest white sand beaches and also houses an old lighthouse. This eco-friendly beach stretches up to five kilometres and is a perfect spot to go for a walk and soak in the medicinal qualities of the trees. It is said to be one of the virgin beaches in the country and is a great spot to watch the tides and the sunset, which paints the sky in a hundred hues of orange. 

Getting there: The nearest airport is the Mangalore International Airport and the nearest railway station is in Kasarkod. 

Where to stay: Kinara Stay Inn  

Price: INR 2,000 per night for two 

Nearby attractions: Rabindranath Tagore beach, Karwar beach, Rock Stone Garden, etc.

4. Kappad BeachKozhikode, Kerala 

The Kappad Beach is where Vasco da Gama first landed after setting sail from Europe 500 years ago, thus making it a place of great historical importance. It also houses a stone monument that commemorates the Portuguese explorer’s landing in India. The Kappad beach is famous for its picturesque location and alluring beauty that gives a sense of peace, and if you are lucky you might also end up spotting some migratory birds. When here, you must stop by at the nearby shacks for some local delicacies and tea.  

Getting there: You can either fly to Calicut International Airport or catch a train to its nearest railway station is in Kozhikode.

Nearby attractions: Tali temple, Regal theatre, Ezhimala viewpoint, etc.

5. Rushikonda BeachVisakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh 

The Rushikonda Beach is an untouched gem in South India, known for its golden sands and smooth tides of the Bay of Bengal. This virgin beach is the perfect destination for you to unwind and relax post the lockdown. For adventure-seeking tourists, there are various watersports, such as swimming, skiing and surfing to partake in. When here you can also check out the various cottages and restaurants around to enjoy some local delicacies.   

Getting there: The beach lies at a distance of 23 kilometres from the city of Visakhapatnam. You either book a flight to Visakhapatnam Airport, or take a train to the Visakhapatnam Railway Station.

6. Padubidri BeachUdupi, Karnataka

Getting there: While the nearest airport is the Mangalore International AirportNandikoor Railway Stationis the closest if you are taking a train.

7. Puri BeachPuri, Odisha

The Puri beach in Odisha is considered one of the safest beaches in the country, which witnesses visitors throughout the day. The annual Puri Beach Festival here is the best time to visit this coastal town. Moreover, you can take home a bunch of souvenirs from the nearby beach markets that come to life in the evening or go for a horse ride and camel ride on the beach.

Getting there: The Puri Railway Station lies at a distance of just two kilometres from the beach and the nearest airport is the Biju Patnaik Airport in Bhubaneswar.

8. Radhanagar BeachAndaman & Nicobar Islands 

Located in the Havelock Island of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the Radhanagar beach was ranked best in Asia and the seventh-best in the world, by the Time Magazine in 2004. Dotted by coconut trees and a tropical jungle, the beach offers a panoramic view of the sea along with pristine white sandy beaches. You can also go for a swim in its emerald blue waters, or watch the sunset from one of the most celebrated spots in Havelock.  

Getting there: It takes approximately three hours from the Veer Savarkar International Airport in Port Blair to reach the destination. 

Where to stay: Barefoot Jungle Resort
