By Aindrila Mitra
It is that time of the year again. Diwali festivities have ended, there’s a nip in the air, and you’re already thinking about where to travel for New Year’s Eve. And that brings us to the theme of this issue — Middle East. Our Discoveries section is a curation of the best hotel experiences from the region that is becoming increasingly popular among Indian travellers; pick one for your year-end celebrations.
What to expect in the Middle East issue?
For our cover shoot this month, we travel to the outpost of Hatta in Dubai with Bollywood’s rising star Siddhant Chaturvedi. At a glamping site amid the rugged mountains, we find out Chaturvedi is a stickler for adventure and very serious about his sartorial choices. How can one be in Dubai and not spend some time in the city? So, we check into Hilton Dubai Al Habtoor City.
As outbound tourism gains steam, and Maldives becomes one of the choicest destinations for luxury Indian travellers, we review five hotels in the island nation that you must check out on your next visit. Closer home, T+L India & South Asia becomes one of the first foreign visitors to Bhutan since the country opened borders in September, and hikes the Trans Bhutan Trail that has reopened after 60 years. In India, we visit the touristy state of Himachal Pradesh, but choose to uncover the lesser-known village of Rakh and its sustainability practices.
What’s coming up next?
November is always special at T+L India & South Asia as we unveil the winners of our readers’ choice Travel + Leisure India’s Best Awards 2022—this time we get it back on ground in the capital city after a two-year hiatus owing to the pandemic.
Stay tuned to our next issue as we celebrate the winners of the travel and hospitality awards. We also honour a very special set of individuals with the ‘T+L Champion’ title, to commemorate our 11th IBA edition.
Here’s to mindful holidays and more…Bon voyage!
