Keeping the impact of Cyclone Tauktae in mind, several airport authorities and airline operators have issued updated travel advisories. If you have a flight scheduled in the next few days for any necessary travel, make sure to check these advisories before your departure.

As per the latest media updates, Cyclone Tauktae hit the Gujarat coast around 9 pm on Tuesday. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) also tweeted after midnight to inform that Cyclone Tauktae had transitioned to being a ‘very severe cyclonic storm’ from the ‘extremely severe cyclonic storm’.

The cyclone has affected operations at 12 airports including, Lakshadweep, Mumbai, Surat, Pune, Goa, Bengaluru, Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Chennai, and Ahmedabad.

As reported by livemint.com, Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) in its statement said, “The airport has so far witnessed seven diversions. In the wake of the alert, a few airlines have decided to cancel services to Mumbai. CSMIA has registered the cancellations of 34 arrivals and 22 departures.”

Several airlines also updated the advisories and flight updates on their social media handles. The latest update from Indigo on Twitter read, “#6ETravelAdvisory: Due to cyclone alert, Mumbai Airport operations will be closed from 1100 hrs to 1400 hrs today. Please visit http://bit.ly/2QCfBUK to check the flight status. We’ll keep you posted for further updates.”

Another update from SpiceJet read, “#Update: Due to cyclone alert, the closure of operations at the Mumbai International Airport has been further extended till 2200 hrs today. Passengers are advised to keep a check on their flight status via http://bit.ly/2tG9xBx.”
