Air carriers in India are incurring heavy losses today. Keeping that in mind, the Ministry of Civil Aviation recently revised the lower limit of air travel fares. The updated fare list, set to be effective from June 01, 2021, will make your air travel costlier by 15 per cent.
It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Civil Aviation came up with a lower limit and upper limit on airfares. Since airfares depend on duration of flights and vary depending on several factors, the ministry came up with this cap to prevent customers from paying an unfair amount. The decision first came into effect during the lockdown in 2020.

For flights with a duration between 40 minutes to 60 minutes, the lower limit has been raised from INR 2,900 to INR 3,300. The upper limits for these flights have been capped at INR 7,800 and INR 9,800, respectively.
