Speaking to NDTV, UAE-based businessman Murarli Lal Jalan, lead member of the Jalan Kalrock Consortium and the proposed Non-Executive Chairman of Jet Airways, said, “Jet Airways 2.0 aims at restarting domestic operations by Q1-2022, and short-haul international operations by Q3/Q4 2022. Our plan is to have more than 50 aircraft in three years and over 100 in five years.”

According to reports, Jet Airways 2.0 will be headquartered in New Delhi instead of Mumbai, like Jet Airways 1.0 was, reports Business Standard. “In its new avatar, Jet Airways will now be headquartered in Delhi-NCR with its senior management working from the Corporate Office at Gurugram. However, Jet Airways will continue to have strong and significant presence in Mumbai where it will work from its ‘Global One’ office in Kurla,” acting CEO Captain Sudhir Gaur said, reports MoneyControl. The first flight is set to be on the Delhi-Mumbai route in early 2022, after which more flights to other destinations will be added to the fleet.

The National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) approved the Consortium’s resolution plan for the flight company on June 22 this year, reports News18. It has hired around 150 employees, and is in the process of hiring more. The process for revalidation of the airline’s operating certificate is underway and the Consortium is in talks for night parking facilities. The Consortium has also agreed to make a cash infusion of INR 1,375 crore in the grounded carrier, reports the media house.
