To further strengthen its fight against COVID-19, the Maharashtra State Government has introduced a mandatory e-pass system for all inter-district movements. With the new rule in place, all individuals looking forward to a road journey from one district to another in Maharashtra must carry an e-pass. One can electronically generate an e-pass.

Who Can Get An E-Pass In Maharashtra?

The state government has set aside some criteria to define who can avail of an e-pass. Only people who have a valid reason to travel will be issued an e-pass. Reasons include medical emergencies, marriage in close relation, or the demise of a relative.

How to Apply for an E-pass?

One can apply for an e-pass at this dedicated website. One will need an Aadhar card, medical certificate, medical documents/death-related documents/marriage-related documents such as a wedding card to justify the purpose of travel. The police is trying to clear these applications a day before the person needs to travel. If the furnished documents or reason for travelling is not satisfactory, the authority can also reject the application.

Who Doesn’t Need an E-pass?

Government employees travelling between districts for official purposes and people in emergency services need not carry an e-pass.
