After the ‘Friends’ reunion, the upcoming ‘Sex and the City’ reboot is ready to floor fans. And we can’t keep calm! By Presha Mahajan

Recently, the cast of Friends basked in glory with their must-awaited iconic reunion. Since the show last aired in 2004, more than 15 years later, passionate and committed fans of the Manhattan-based show went gaga over all the hugs, tears, friendships, and the signature coffee shop. After that emotional reunion, and entering with panache, is the Sex and the City (SATC) reunion!

SATC fans are in for a treat with the show’s girls back in New York City for the revival titled And Just Like That. The reboot will follow Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte as “they navigate the journey from the complicated reality of life and friendship in their 30s to the even more complicated reality of life and friendship in their 50s,” HBO Max says, according to Hello! Although the characters will be older, we expect nothing less than fun and flamboyance from the three iconic ladies!

Actress Sarah Jessica Parker, who plays Carrie, spilled some beans and confirmed that the impact of COVID-19 on the characters and their friendships will be explored in the storyline. In a recent Instagram post with fellow actresses Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon, she wrote, “Together again. Read through our first episodes.@justlikethatmax; Alongside all the fellas and our newest cast members. Like an ice cream sundae.” The fans, although overjoyed, could not contain their disappointment at the absence of Samantha. Kim Cattrall, the actor who portrays Jones in the show, confirmed her non-attendance.

Filling this gaping hole, however, will be a fresh face called Che Diaz, played by the Grey’s Anatomy actor, Sara Ramirez. A non-binary podcast host with a big heart and a remarkable sense of humour are just a few things that describe this new character.

Chris Noth, however, will return to the show, reprising his role as Carrie’s love interest, Mr. Big. Also coming back are characters Anthony, Steve, Stanford, Harry, and Aidan, played by Mario Cantone, David Eigenberg, Willie Garson, Evan Handler, and John Corbett respectively. Speaking about the characters—old, and new—HBO Max chief content officer Casey Bloys told TVLine, “Friendships fade, and new friendships start. So I think it is all very indicative of the real stages, the actual stages of life. The show isn’t trying to “redo” the original.”

HBO Max’s And Just Like That will cover 10 half-hour episodes. Although the premiere date has not been announced yet, the read through is done, and the production is likely to kickstart in New York City this summer.
