In an effort to lure travellers and encourage tourism to the island country, SriLankan Airlines has introduced an enticing offer for travellers from India. We tell you all about it. By Aneesh Kumar

Encouraging travellers to hop on and visit Sri Lanka, SriLankan Airlines dropped an enchanting travel deal. The buy one and get one free offer remains exclusive to travellers from India, reports APN News. This offer prevails across to all the seating categories and is valid on bookings made for flights between India and Colombo for leisure travel. The offer stands for bookings made until October 31, 2021.

This surprise package synchronises with the Sri Lankan government’s decision to reopen the country under the bio-bubble phase thereby making it safe for hassle-free travel. Allowing Indians to cruise through the island nation, this package happens to offer special incentives, too, making Sri Lanka an ideal travel choice in these trying times.

Taking to Twitter, SriLankan Airlines tweeted “Exciting offer from SriLankan Airlines! Buy One Get One Free from #India to #SriLanka. Offer valid only for Indian nationals travelling on tourist visa. Reserve your ticket today!”

Opening up the island nation to travellers from India, the national carrier of Sri Lanka—the SriLankan Airlines—currently operates four flights a week from Chennai, three flights a week from Mumbai, and once a week from Bengaluru to its hub in Colombo. Enhancing its prospects, the airline also went on to announce the commencement of services between Colombo and other Indian points—Madurai, Tiruchirappalli, Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum) and Kochi, each with flights once a week. It is followed by Hyderabad and New Delhi being connected to Colombo via twice-weekly flights, reports India Blooms.

Talking to Times of India, the head of worldwide sales and distribution of SriLankan Airlines, Dimuthu Tennakoon said that the nation is now open for tourists from India but under some conditions. Elaborating on the same, he said that the tourists needed to be fully vaccinated and the second dose should be taken prior to at least 14 days before departure.

Taking to arrival procedures, he said that the travellers will be required to take an RT-PCR test at their hotels. All the restrictions on visiting places will be lifted tested upon testing negative. Notably, there is no mandatory quarantine for travellers who test negative on the COVID-19 test upon arrival at the Emerald Island. The observation of standard protocols of COVID-19 prevention like social distancing and sanitation are mandatory and the country accepts all vaccines, including COVAXIN™.
