The Swiss Federal Council has decided to ease restrictions on Schengen Area and Third countries, reports an official press release. The Schengen area includes 26 countries including Germany, Belgium, Finland, Sweden and more. Third countries include places like Australia, Andorra, Israel and Japan among others. Notably, Switzerland is expanding its permissions for non-EU travellers, too.
The changes came in effect from June 26, according to media reports. Travellers from Schengen area will no longer face restrictions upon entry, and they will not be required to quarantine on arrival. In addition, only non-vaccinated or COVID-19 recovered passengers will be tested on arrival; and must carry a negative test certificate, notes Erickson Immigration Group.
As per the official release, the Federal Council notes that air travellers need to submit their contact details—irrespective of whether they are vaccinated or not—for containing the Coronavirus. It also noted that the list of countries issued by the State Secretariat for Migration (SEM) have been amended.
