With the threat of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 looming large, several nations have been making changes to their international travel policies. And the variant seems to be spreading wide in Europe, as the UK also recently reported its first death from the Omicron variant. Keeping this and all other updates in mind, the USA‘s Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has updated its list of ‘very high risk’ travel destinations, adding several European nations to the same.

Among the latest entrants on the list is France, which is a popular travel destination on the continent. France, along with Italy, Andorra, Cyprus, Liechtenstein and Portugal have been moved to the ‘very high risk’ bracket on CDC’s list, reports CNN. The CDC recommends that travellers avoid visiting these destinations to ensure their safety, and if going there is a must, they recommend being fully vaccinated.

The CDC keeps updating its list of high-risk nations for travel. During the second wave of the pandemic, India featured on this list, but at the moment, since the COVID-19 situation seems somewhat in control here, the nation is among the low-risk travel destinations.
