In what has come as a relief to many tourists and adventure lovers in the UK, France has lifted the curbs that were put in place due to the global spread of the Omicron variant of the coronavirus. French authorities had announced the travel curb on December 18, 2021. France is popular for its ski resorts, which continue to remain a huge draw for British skiers.

France is welcoming tourists from the UK. Here are all the details

France will reopen its borders for vaccinated tourists coming from the UK. Tourists will have to produce a negative PCR report, taken 24 hours before departure. They may also give an antigen test report. Unvaccinated tourists will have to undergo a mandatory 10-day quarantine. They’ll be required to share the address of their stay with French security forces.

The French Alps provide the perfect setting for skiing during the winter season. To avoid large crowds during the year-end holiday season, the French government had put a blanket ban on all non-essential travel.

According to a news report published in the Times of India, skiing enthusiasts in Britain are looking forward to travelling to France for their adventures. “Thousands of people head there for ski breaks at this time of year, so this will be a huge relief for customers with holidays booked there for the next few weeks, who have been waiting anxiously for news,” the report quoted the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA) from their official statement.

The lift on the travel curbs has come as a relief to the tourism economy of the regions around the French Alps. Thousands of British skiers were left disappointed when the ban was announced. They had made bookings in the Alpine ski resorts of France. The news about the lifting of the curbs has not only come as a respite for British skiers but will also benefit travel operators, ferry companies, and the cross-channel Eurostar train service.
