Malawi, located in Africa, is all set to grant visa-free entry to citizens of 79 countries, including the United Kingdom, France, China, the United States, Russia, and members of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), a regional bloc, as announced by President Lazarus Chakwera in the parliament on February 9.

Tourism ranks as the third largest source of foreign income for this economically disadvantaged nation, following the tobacco and tea industries. Malawi’s tourism strategy aims to attract investments in agriculture, tourism, and mining. The country’s stringent visa requirements had previously hindered its potential for tourist influx, according to Malawi’s Tourism Minister, Vera Kamtukule.
