The service is part of a series of new initiatives that are being launched by the department, to attract visitors and provide them with newer means of entertainment and adventure, the report states. In a tweet, the tourism department of Jammu and Kashmir noted that the rides launched in Zabarwan Park would allow visitors to witness breathtaking sites of Dal Lake and the entire city.
Talking about this new addition, GN Itoo, Director, Kashmir Tourism, said, “Around five years ago, a routine balloon service was introduced but this time, in a first, we have launched a hot air balloon service to attract tourists and local visitors,” reports Times of India.
Each balloon can host four people at one time, along with the captain, and adhering to safety measures is mandatory, Itoo told the publication. According to the Tourism Department, visitors will be able to avail discounts in the first week of these balloon rides, as a means of promotion and to attract locals, too.
