All The Countries You Can Visit As Part Of Air Travel Bubble Arrangements With India

With the Omicron variant creating a scare across the world with its high transmissibility, India has put a pause on resuming regular international flights. However, if you still want to travel abroad, you can visit these countries, which have air travel bubble arrangements with India. By Anushka Goel

The Omicron variant of COVID-19, which was mapped last month in South Africa, has spread to a total of 30 countries now, including India, where two cases were confirmed on December 2, 2021, in Karnataka. Seeing this spread, India has decided to put a halt to its resumption of regular international flights. However, if you still fancy an international trip, the air travel bubble arrangements between India and several nations will continue to function, reports Times of India.

Countries with air travel bubble arrangements with India

According to the Ministry of Civil Aviation, India has travel bubble arrangements with 31 countries. Here are the details of these arrangements with the countries.

Afghanistan

India and Afghanistan have travel bubble arrangements, under which Afghan nationals and foreigners with a valid Afghan visa are allowed to travel to Afghanistan, along with Indian nationals with a valid visa from the country only.

Bahrain

All Bahrain residents/nationals and Indians holding a valid visa from the Kingdom of Bahrain, who are visiting the country, are allowed to make use of the air travel bubble to visit the country.

Bangladesh

Bangladesh nationals and residents of the country, along with foreign nationals, holding a valid visa from the country are allowed to enter from India. Also, Indian nationals with valid visas from the country can visit.

Bhutan

Those who are Bhutan nationals or residents, and any foreign nationals with a valid visa can travel to Bhutan. Also, all Indian nationals are allowed to visit the country.

Canada

Canadian nationals or residents stranded in India and any foreign nationals with a valid visa can enter Canada. Indians with valid visas can also enter the country via air travel bubble arrangements. Further, seamen of foreign nationalities and those holding Indian passports will be subject to clearance from the Ministry of Shipping.

Ethiopia

Those who are residents or nationals of Ethiopia, foreign nationals travelling to Africa and transiting through the country or spouses of these persons will be allowed to travel to the country. Further, all Indian, Nepalese, and Bhutanese nationals destined for any African country and holding a valid visa for their destination will be allowed to enter Ethiopia. Lastly, seamen of foreign nationalities and those with Indian passports will be allowed to enter post clearance from the Ministry of Shipping, only if they’re headed to Africa.

Finland

Finland residents or nationals, foreign nationals destined for the European Union or the Schengen area, South America or Africa and only and transiting through Finland, and/or spouses of these persons, will be allowed inside the Finland Airport. Also, Indian, Nepalese, and Bhutanese nationals destined for the EU or Schengen areas, South America or Africa and transiting through Finland will be permitted entry as part of the air travel bubble arrangements. Further, foreign and Indian seamen destined for the same regions will be allowed entry post clearance from the Ministry of Shipping.

France

The rules for those entering France are similar to those entering Finland, with nationals and residents of France and those headed to the EU, Schengen areas, South America or Africa and transiting through France, and spouses of these persons, being allowed entry. Further, Indian nationals and those from Nepal and Bhutan travelling to the same destinations will be allowed to enter, along with foreign seamen and those with Indian passports travelling to the same destinations will be allowed subject to clearance by the Ministry of Shipping.

Germany

German nationals and residents travelling to the EU, Schengen area, South America or Africa and transiting through Germany will be allowed to enter, along with spouses of these persons. Similarly, Indian nationals and those from Bhutan and Nepal with valid visas to these destinations will be permitted entry as part of the air travel bubble arrangements, and seamen destined to the same places will be able to enter Germany after clearance from the Ministry of Shipping.

Iraq

All Iraq nationals and residents, along with India, Nepal, and Bhutan residents with a valid visa will be allowed to enter Iraq.

Japan

Japan nationals and residents, and foreign nationals with valid Japanese visas will be allowed to enter subject to the border measures and travel restrictions imposed by the Japanese government at the time of travel, along with Indian nationals with valid visas, subject to the same restrictions by the Government of Japan.

Kenya

Nationals or residents of any African country, along with nationals of India, Nepal or Bhutan destined for any African country and holding a valid visa will be allowed entry into Kenya.

Kuwait

Kuwait nationals and Indian nationals eligible to travel to Kuwait and possessing a valid visa to the country will be allowed to make use of the air travel bubble arrangements.

The Maldives

Maldivian nationals and residents, along with foreign travellers with a valid visa will be allowed to enter the Maldives, along with all Indian nationals.

Mauritius

Stranded nationals and residents of Mauritius, foreign nationals travelling to Africa and transiting through the country and spouses of these persons will be allowed to enter Mauritius, along with Indian, Bhutanese and Nepalese nationals with valid visas for any African country. Further, seamen of foreign nationalities and those with Indian passports, travelling to African countries, will be allowed subject to clearance from the Ministry of Shipping.

Nepal

Indian and Nepal nationals, along with third-country nationals (including diplomats), will be allowed to enter Nepal if they have a valid visa or entry permit.

The Netherlands

Netherlands nationals and residents, foreign nationals destined for EU or the Schengen area, South America or Africa and are transiting through the Netherlands, will be allowed entry, along with spouses of these persons. Further, any nationals of India, Nepal and Bhutan headed for the same destinations will be allowed entry into the Netherlands. Also, foreign seamen and those with Indian passports, who are headed to the same destinations, will be permitted entry post clearance from the Ministry of Shipping.

Nigeria

Nigerian nationals or residents and foreign nationals destined for Africa transiting through the country, and their spouses, are allowed entry into Nigeria as per the air travel bubble arrangements. Further, Indian nationals with any type of a valid Nigerian visa and who are headed to Africa can visit/transit through Nigeria. Further, seamen can enter after getting their clearance from the Ministry of Shipping.

Oman

Oman nationals and residents, and Indians with a valid residency permit who are destined for Oman can enter the country.

Qatar

All Qatari nationals and those from India, Nepal and Bhutan headed for Qatar or any South American or African country can enter Qatar, provided they have a valid visa of the destination country. Also, foreign nationals headed to South America or Africa and transiting through Qatar will be allowed.

Russia

Stranded nationals and residents of Russia and nationals of Indian, Nepal or Bhutan with a valid Russian visa will be allowed entry, according to the Ministry of Civil Aviation. Further, seamen (both of foreign nationalities and those with Indian passports) will be allowed entry as long as they are destined for Russia and have a clearance from the Ministry of Shipping.

Rwanda

Rwanda nationals and residents, and foreign nationals and/or their spouses travelling to Africa and transiting through Rwanda will be allowed entry into the country. Also, Indian, Nepalese and Bhutanese nationals who are travelling to Africa will be allowed to enter, along with seamen, who will be subject to clearance from the Ministry of Shipping.

Seychelles

Nationals and residents of Seychelles, foreign nationals travelling to Africa or spouses of these persons will be allowed to enter Seychelles, along with nationals of India, Nepal and Bhutan who fulfill these conditions. Further, seamen of foreign nationalities and those with valid Indian passports travelling to Africa will be allowed entry, after getting due clearance from the Ministry of Shipping.

Singapore

With the creation of the Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL), fully vaccinated travellers can move between the two countries without quarantine, as long as they travel by VTL flights. Stranded nationals and residents of Singapore, along with Indians possessing a valid Singapore visa will be allowed entry, along with foreign nationals holding a valid visa.

Sri Lanka

Indian businessmen on a business visa, Indian healthcare professionals, health researchers, engineers and technicians travelling for work at Sri Lankan health sector facilities will be allowed entry, along with Indian engineering, managerial, design or other specialists. Also, Indian technical specialists and engineers travelling for installation, repair or maintenance of Indian machinery and equipment will be allowed entry. Along with them, Indian tourists and Sri Lankan nationals and residents will also be permitted to make use of the air travel bubble arrangements.

Tanzania

Stranded nationals or residents of Tanzania, foreign nationals going to for Africa and spouses of these persons will be allowed entry into Tanzania if they’re transiting through the country. The same rules apply for Indian, Bhutanese and Nepalese nationals. Further, seamen of foreign nationalities and those with valid Indian passports travelling to Africa will be allowed entry subject to clearance from the Ministry of Shipping.

Ukraine

Nationals and residents of Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries (excluding Russia), along with any Indian, Nepal or Bhutan national holding a valid visa for CIS countries (except Russia) will be allowed entry into Ukraine.

The UAE

The UAE nationals, ICA-approved UAE residents and Indian, Nepal and Bhutan nationals visiting the UAE or any country in South America or Africa can enter the UAE, provided they have a valid visa of their destination country.

The UK

Stranded nationals and residents of the UK, foreign nationals transiting through the country and their spouses can enter the UK, along with Indians holding a valid UK visa and are travelling to the country. Also, seamen (both foreign and those with Indian passports) will be allowed after getting clearance from the Ministry of Shipping.

The USA

Citizens of the USA, legal permanent residents and foreign nationals with a valid visa will be allowed to make use of the air travel bubble between India and the USA, along with Indian nationals holding any type of a US visa. Also, seamen will be allowed after approval from the Ministry of shipping.

Uzbekistan

Nationals and residents of CIS countries (except Russia) and nationals of India, Bhutan and Nepal who are headed for any CIS country except Russia can enter Uzbekistan.
