The underpass, which connects Delhi‘s New Friends Colony and Bhogal, is open to commuters from 8:00 am to 10.30 am and from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm daily, until Saturday – when it is likely to be inaugurated – the Hindustan Times report suggests. The underpass has been undergoing trials since March 22, and remaining work is being carried out at night. This is why no vehicular movement is being permitted in the area between 10:00 pm and 7:00 am, the report adds.
According to India.com, the Ashram underpass has already had eight missed deadlines. The 750-metre-long underpass, which is located at the choked Ashram crossing in Delhi, will benefit lakhs of commuters, especially those looking to avoid office rush hours. Delhi’s Public Works Department (PWD) has finalised the construction work of the underpass, while the final repairs are being wrapped up now.

The foundation stone for the project was laid down by the Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal, in December 2019. However, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic put a dampener on the plan, causing the project to miss its initial deadline of December 2020.
