If you’re looking for US visa appointment slots, you know that the wait is long. However, the embassy has opened up B1/B2 waiver appointment slots for December for Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai. Here’s your chance!

If your US travel plans have been foiled thanks to the massive visa waitlist (it extends up to 2025, as far as the latest updates go), the US embassy is here to make your lives just a little easier. That is if your choice of visa was the B1 or B2 visa. The US embassy on Monday informed that they have opened several interview waiver appointments for these categories of visa for December.

According to the latest updates by the US embassy, they have opened some waiver (dropbox) appointments for the B1 (business) and B2 (tourist) visas in three cities – Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai. These visas have a wait time of close to 1,000 days at the moment, while the wait time for those with dropbox appointments is 297 days in Mumbai, 233 days in Delhi and 171 days in Chennai. These new appointments are being released to decrease the waiting time for travellers – both leisure and business travellers.

According to reports, it is happening for the first time that the US embassy has created more appointments for interview waiver, and is sending some of these dropbox applications abroad for a decision on the same. With these appointments, Indians whose B1/B2 visas expired within four years (instead of one year) of applying for a new one under the same category, will be eligible for this dropbox visa.

The US embassy in India had released over 1 lakh appointments for employment-based visas, and these dropboxes remain a priority even now, reports state.
