The new expressway is said to cost about INR 50,000 crores for building the 699-kilometre long stretch. As of now, a formal proposal will be sent to NHAI. Construction of the project will begin once the process of acquiring land for the same is completed, reports state.

The new expressway, once completed (roughly by 2028), will pass through 12 districts. These include three in Maharashtra and nine in Karnataka – Belagavi, Davanagare, Tumakuru, Satara, Sangli, Pune, Chitradurga, Vijayanagara (Ballari), Koppal, Bagalkot, Bengaluru Rural, and Gadag, reports add.

The Bangalore expressway will run parallel to Karjat on one stretch, making connectivity to Mumbai easier. It’ll also be complete with flyovers, plantations and various amenities, bringing in business to these districts and supporting the local economy. This is not all – the expressway will be a visual treat, too. It will cross various rivers on its path, and traverse through changing landscapes, from plains to low-lying hills filled with lush greenery.

The Bangalore-Pune stretch is already filled with various stunning sights, and road trips along the route are a pleasant, rejuvenating experience. And now, the journey is expected to reduce by about 95 kilometres, making the trip shorter and a lot more comfortable.
