Taba Chake is among the artistes who will perform at the festival.

The festival will feature local, national and international artistes such as Bloodywood, Taba Chake, Yung Raja, Karan Kanchan, HanuMankind, Trance Effect, Featherheads, DBryn, and Daminot, along with many others. The festival, which will happen in Meghalaya’s Umbir village and Umami Lake, will have a large section dedicated to food – highlights of the same being ‘The Forage Aisle’ and ‘The Pig-Out Affair’ showcasing regional cuisine from different parts of Meghalaya, a press release with Travel + Leisure India & South Asia states.

The Forage Aisle will showcase local, indigenous forage and edibles, and will feature a culinary exchange between Chef Thomas Zacharias aka Chef TZac and local chefs. The result? A delectable menu filled with a lip-smacking treat that will leave you wanting more! The Pig-Out Affair at the Hills festival will be a community cookout serving pork dishes distinct from their tradition and culture. The meat is symbolic of community celebration here and will imbue the same feeling at the event, too.

The festival is also set to be complete with green initiatives. From promotional backdrops to art installations, everything will be built using environmentally-innovative materials, the press release states. What’s more, installations will feature mythical tales from the region to be able to educate visitors on the local lores and life. Another focus is going to be on eco-tourism as well as sorting, composting and recycling initiatives to be able to give back to the environment. This is not all – arrangements for RO water stations, biodegradable cutlery and a lot more will be made to allow for minimum wastage.

For adventure lovers, The Hills Festival also has cycling tracks and camping spots so that you can enjoy the beautiful Umami Lake and Umbir Village. The views will bring you a sense of calm, as you soak in nature, sipping on a hot beverage or two at the camping tents. And if you’re visiting with children, the specially-created PlayCare section will ensure they have the time of their life, with all the safety measures that you may need.
