Kashmir, undoubtedly one of the most beautiful cities in India, has seen a huge rise in tourism in 2021, with over 1,27,000 tourists visiting the place in November alone. By Anushka Goel
In recent years, Kashmir has grown as a tourism spot, owing to its immense beauty, ethereal landscapes, and weather. So much so that in the last few months, the place has seen tourism numbers surpassing its records of the last seven years, reports Hindustan Times.

According to Business Standard, in November 2021, Kashmir saw a record number of over 1,27,000 people visiting the place, which is the highest in seven years. Dr Ghulam Nabi Itoo, Director, Tourism, Kashmir, told ANI, “Around 1.27 lakh tourists visited Kashmir in November and 97,000 tourists in October this year, which is the highest in the last seven years. Vigorous tourism promotions and iconic festivals created the buzz that resulted in a record footfall.”
With the pandemic raging on and international borders remaining shut for a huge chunk of 2020 and 2021, tourism within India saw a huge rise, with more and more people exploring destinations in India – both for leisure and for work. Kashmir emerged as a popular choice for many, especially honeymooners, as several couples, including celebrities such as Aditya Narayan and Shweta Agrawal Jha, opted to visit the Paradise on Earth for their honeymoon.

According to Zee News, there had been a downfall of tourists in Kashmir in the pandemic months, but the moment travel rules eased, the place was flocked with tourists, and places such as Gulmarg and Sonmarg have also been packed with travellers. What’s more, IRCTC even released a holiday package to the place to attract visitors and offer them the best of the city.
Apart from the natural beauty, the clear skies, shikara rides, houseboats and the weather have been major attractions for tourists, who also love to visit the place for its snow-covered destinations and delectable cuisine.
