Everything to know about the Mumbai International airport closure
On October 18, if you are flying out of or landing at The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai, there is a possibility that you might face some inconvenience. It was recently announced that two of the Mumbai International Airport’s runways will remain closed between 11:00 am to 5:00 pm on that day for some post-monsoon maintenance work.
A spokesperson for the CSMIA confirmed, ”The runways 14/32 and 9/27 will be closed from 11 am to 5 pm on October 18.” According to a report by Mint, the spokesperson also said, “As part of its post-monsoon preventive maintenance of runway intersection, major work like runway edge lights for runway 14/32, upgradation of AGL (Aeronautical ground lights), among other major tasks will be undertaken.”
“With more than 800 flights landing and taking off each day, this yearly practice of runway maintenance post monsoons is part of the series of activities undertaken with precision and meticulous efforts ensuring operational continuity and passenger safety, thus bringing to life the vision of imbibing passenger first approach at the core of our operations,” the statement also read.
In an attempt to save the passengers from any inconvenience, the airport authorities, in cooperation with various airline stakeholders and customs, have already rescheduled many of the flights.
This kind of post-monsoon maintenance work is a regular phenomenon at the Mumbai International airport to make sure that things keep on running smoothly.
