Lucy Nguille, a woman entrepreneur from Nagaland, has been making headlines off late for her newest creation. Nguille, a resident of the beautiful Shitovi village in Dimpaur district, has launched a 100 per cent organic fruit wine made of dragon fruit. Lolano Patton, the Public Relations Officer of Dimapur launched the wine, officially. The inauguration event took place at Ngullie’s ‘Dream Dragon Fruit Farm,’ a few days ago.

Nguille, who started this venture in 2019, has learned the art of winemaking from a Philippino winemaker. She imported all the ingredients for making this organic dragon fruit wine from Canada. Initially, the dragon fruit wine will be available in red and white variants, where each bottle will cost the buyer around INR 1,100.

While the wines will be available for sale by February 2022, many people have already pre-booked their orders. Since dragon fruits are seasonal and perishable, turning them into wine is a great way to save them from wastage.

As reported by sentinelassam.com, Lucy Ngullie said, “[Since] dragon fruits are seasonal and perishable fruits, so I thought if I can convert some of the abundant harvests into wine or juice, then the fruits won’t go waste.” She further added, “I humbly hope that this venture would encourage and inspire fellow Naga farmers to learn how to be self-reliant and not always depend on government subsidies or intervention.”
