Africa is one of the best international destinations for those who seek the thrill of experiencing wildlife. The place is known for its countries with rugged landscapes, vast forests and an exciting range of animal species, that have made their way to several documentaries and safari experiences of visitors from far and wide.

Now, India is set to experience the same exotic species at a wildlife safari in India! The Maharashtra Government recently announced that this year’s budget (i.e 2022-2023) will include an African wildlife safari, right here in Nagpur, reports The Hindu.

Nagpur to get country’s first African wildlife safari

The safari is set to come to the Balasaheb Thackeray Gorewada International Zoo, said to be one of the largest captive zoo safari in India, The Hindu reports.

Talking about this development, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar had said, “The government intends to conduct the country’s first experiment to display wildlife from the African continent. For this, an African safari is proposed at Balasaheb Thackeray Gorewada International Zoo,” reports Deccan Herald. This announcement was made during the presentation of the Maharashtra State Budget.

The project is said to cost around INR 100 crore, and will excite wildlife lovers from across the country who flock to the many national parks in the country to spot the magnificent creatures India has to offer, including the many national parks around Nagpur.

According to The Hindu, another project that is in the pipeline is a leopard safari, said to cost an approximate INR 60 crores. This will be located in a 90-hectare forest area in Pune. Yet another project in the pipeline, apart from the African wildlife safari in Nagpur, is a tiger safari and wildlife rescue centre in Chandrapur district, spread over a sprawling 171-hectare area.
