Among the most popular luxury trains in India, Palace on Wheels is definitely an experience of a lifetime. And the train, which had shut shop amid the pandemic resumed services two years later on Saturday, October 8 making the fans of luxury travel in India and all across the world ecstatic.

The train, which runs in Rajasthan, was flagged off by state Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot at the Gandhinagar Railway Station on October 8. Marking the occasion, Rajasthan Tourism tweeted, “HCM Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot flags off ‘Palace on Wheels’ fam tour along with Tourism Minister Vishvendra Singh, Minister of State Tourism Murari Lal Meena, Industries Minister Shakuntala Rawat, RTDC Chairman Dharmendra Rathore, & PST Gayatri Rathore among others.”
The train has reportedly been serving passengers for over 40 years now, taking them on a journey through the state in a king-like luxury. Among the best luxury trains in the world, Palace on Wheels has 39 deluxe cabins and two super-deluxe cabins, which allows it to carry a total 82 passengers, the website states. The train, which starts every Wednesday evening from New Delhi, travels through Rajasthan, before arriving at the New Delhi Railway Station on Wednesday morning.
What’s more, the coaches come complete with all kinds of luxury amenities. These include air conditioning, attached toilets in each cabin, high-speed internet, a fully-stocked pantry, music channels, a safe, carpeting and even a khitmadgar (personal butler) to attend to you.
Palace on Wheels ticket prices
The official website of Palace on Wheels also shared the ticket prices from the months of October 2022 to March 2023.
For single occupancy – INR 84,680 per person per night
For double occupancy – INR 54750 per person per night
For super deluxe (suite) – INR 151840 per cabin per night
