You may have heard of private jets being hired for events, and the rich and influential flying off in their jets to reach their destinations on time. However, private jetting is a trend that’s picked up pace among many others in the pandemic, with people opting for chartered planes to reach wedding venues, holiday destinations, and even pilgrimage sites.
What is private jetting?

It’s when you use a private jet (yours or chartered) to reach your destination. These are more common among businessmen, celebrities, or to bring guests to the venues smoothly and safely. However, amid the pandemic, the use of private jets or chartered planes has increased among the masses.
Another industry to have capitalised on the same is weddings, with several companies (both in India and abroad) offering wedding charter services to ensure the families reach the wedding venues safely, as well as to make an entrance. Some companies, such as Air Charter Service, also offer the opportunity to couples to get married in the sky.
Why opt for private jetting?

One of the major reasons why private jetting is becoming popular is the safety factor, especially amid the ongoing pandemic. For those planning destination weddings, using a chartered plane for their friends and family has emerged as a safer option so that co-passengers are just family, writes Wed Me Good. Companies offer helicopters and flights for guests and their families so that you can customise your flight timings to ensure minimum exposure to others.
Kanika Tekriwal, CEO & Co-Founder, JetSetGo, says, “Pre-COVID, people’s perception of private jetting was luxury or huge expenditures to impress the rich and elite, but the pandemic has largely redefined this notion. Now, it’s a need for health and privacy-conscious individuals and businesses.”
Several Bollywood and Hollywood celebs have been known to board chartered planes to reach weddings and other destinations. According to rumours, even Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif are set to board a chartered helicopter from Jaipur to reach Six Senses Barwara Fort, where their wedding will reportedly be held.
How to book a private jet to fly to your wedding

Tekriwal tells us, “To opt for private jetting in India, all you need to do is contact a travel company or a private jet operator. Our company takes care of everything – from booking the private charter to landing at the chosen destination. Usually, all permissions are arranged by the travel company for the guests to fly on the chartered plane, and the guest limit is decided based on the aircraft the customers select.” In terms of the documents required, Tekriwal says these are the same as you would need to book any other commercial flight.
Travel companies provide special services and packages curated for weddings and events that the customers can opt for as they book their flights or helicopters, and often, deals are also provided during wedding seasons for the guests’ comfort and safety.
