The world’s largest crafts fair, the Surajkund Mela, began on March 19 after a two-year hiatus. The fair, which showcases not only Indian, but various international traditional crafts, will be on till April 4, 2022. Here are all the details that you need. By Anushka Goel
If you’re someone who loves collecting traditional crafts from across the world, finding it all in one place is but a dream come true. The Surajkund International Crafts Mela, an annual event that takes place in February, is one such place that allows you to explore the best of Indian and world art in one place. And after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the fair is back and is on from March 19 till April 4 this year.

The 35th International Surajkund Handicrafts Mela, which attracts visitors from all over the globe, is held near the Surajkund Lake in Faridabad, Haryana. The event this year was inaugurated by the Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, reports DNA.
The mela features a plethora of Indian art and architecture, from its various textiles to paintings, traditional home decor ware, snacks, and more. It also features international artists showcasing their culture through handicrafts, and countries such as Turkey and Bhutan have been participants in the past. This year, about 20 countries are said to participate in the Surajkund Mela this year, from South Asia, Africa, and Europe, reports India.com. The fair is hosted by the Haryana Tourism Department every year, and witnesses travellers from all age groups.
The partner state this time is Jammu and Kashmir, while the partner nation is Uzbekistan, the Haryana Chief Minister said, reports DNA, adding that this time, an e-ticketing system has been started for the convenience of the visitors.
