Uber has launched Uber Express Match at Kolkata Airport, a first for the country outside of the United States and Canada. This new feature will help reduce wait times for users by pre-staging a handful of vehicles outside dedicated pickup points.

“After pilots across airports in the United States and Canada, Kolkata airport is the first in the world to implement Uber’s innovative ExpressMatch technology,” read a statement issued by the company (as reported in Hindustan Times). And thanks to this new feature, wait time for riders will be reduced to almost zero now.

The new intelligent tool will send drivers to pick up points before they receive a ride request, which will also avoid wasted idling of drivers at airport pickup points. The new Uber Express Match will also reduce congestion at airports for passengers and will ensure social distancing especially with the festive season being around the corner.

“ExpressMatch is our effort to offer riders a true Uber experience by reducing wait times and enabling seamless pickups at airport creating peace of mind for customers during these challenging times,” said the Head of Rider Operations, Uber India and South Asia, Ratul Ghosh (as reported in the Times of India).
