There’s a lot to love about India: terrains that dance between plains, mountains, and rivers; lush forests that house numerous animals; a happy riot of colours and festivals; monuments galore; cultures aplenty; and many stories couched in its alleys. And today, we find this happiness in Gulmarg.
It’s often said that if you’re out looking for Heaven, then a glimpse of Kashmir is all you need. Indian content creator, Gaurav Taneja, along with his wife, Ritu Rathee Taneja, caught a whiff its beauty earlier in 2019. Today, as he flips through travel throwback diary, he takes us down the stunning slopes of Gulmarg, reminding us once again #WhyWeLoveIndia.
Located just two hours away from Srinagar, Gulmarg—Gaurav Taneja’s temporary abode and pill to blissful calm—houses many wonders and beautiful landscapes, especially during the winter months when the dramatic scenes come blanketed in snow. And where there’s snow, there’s skiing! At Gulmarg, consider skiing down the second highest cable car in the world—Gondola Phase II. From here, peer down below at the expansive golf course, the serene Alpather Lake, and the countless rolling hills dotted with trekkers galore.
But what truly makes India special is its loving hospitality, and Gulmarg has no dearth of it. Home to ethnic nomadic tribal groups like Gujjar and Bakarwal, as well as being a popular tourist spot, lends itself to becoming an abode of friendly people, countless stories, and captivating cultures. After all, isn’t that just one of the many reasons #WhyWeLoveIndia?
