The state of Andhra Pradesh is planning on using virtual tours as a means to allow travellers to visit the region’s much-loved and lesser-known destinations from the comfort of their homes. Alongside this, the state is also keen on promoting rural tourism, adventure sports and amusement parks.
Virtual tours rose to popularity and became the ‘IT’ word after COVID-19 forced people to stay indoors. Thanks to online experiences, travellers were able to sustain themselves at home during the lockdown period without feeling stuck in one place.

Addressing a virtual session with members of the tourism committee of FICCI, Special Chief Secretary (Tourism and Culture), Rajat Bhargava said, “The path to revival (of tourism) will involve building a perception of safe tourism in the minds of the tourists. Adjoining states will have to work together to ensure the free flow of tourists across borders,” (as reported by Hindustan Times).
Bhargava added that this would be done to revive the dim tourism scene in the state and the same would be achieved with an aggressive marketing push. The state is already preparing a new tourism policy and has identified several locations that fit the bill for the development of luxury hotels and resorts in the state.
