Booking.com has curated Indian bucket list destinations for every generation. Check out the list now to plan your future multi-generation holiday. By Yagnoseni Das

During the lengthy period of social isolation in the past year due to the pandemic, if there is one thing each generation has collectively yearned for, is the freedom to travel again. After a year of posting old photos of past vacations on social media and captioning it “take me back,” travellers in India are finally taking out their dust-laden suitcases to set out for a much-needed vacation. Besides, regardless of the generation one may belong to or the kind of traveller one might be—solo backpacker, the diligent planner or the impulsive traveller—the world has something for all kinds of wanderers. On that note, as travel restrictions begin to ease globally, Booking.com has shared a list of destinations to add to your bucket list, tailored for each generation.

Baby Boomers (born between 1946 to 1964)

According to research, one-third of Baby Boomers globally have revealed that a city trip tops their list of preferred destinations to travel to once all COVID-19 restrictions have eased. And what better place for a city tour than Jaipur? From strolling on the cobblestoned Amber fort and photographing the stunning Hawa Mahal to an intellectually stimulating visit to the Albert Hall Museum, Jaipur offers a diverse platter of travel options, well-suited for Baby Boomers.

Gen X (born between 1965 to 1980)

Mandarmani, a seaside village in West Bengal, is the perfect spot for Gen X as 42 per cent of them prefer a destination suited for relaxation; and this town offers just that. Incidentally, it is also a top endorsed lesser-known destination for relaxation! Gen X travellers are sure to love a day of sunbathing on Mandarmani’s white powdery beaches, and another day or two exploring the town. Apart from spectacular scenic terrains, Mandarmani also offers a varied range of local seafood delicacies served in coastal restaurants and resorts.

Millennials (born between 1981 to 1996)

Nearly 57 per cent of millennials globally have expressed their desire to travel more sustainably. And the best way to go about that is by visiting lesser-explored places where one can give back to the community. One such gem of a place that fits the description is Lum in Sikkim, home to the Lepcha tribe. Over the last few years, the tribe has offered their homes to travellers as eco-stays. The village offers well-built roads perfect for cycling and exploring, and an array of local homemade food, cooked by the Lepcha tribe members themselves. The village’s orange orchard—which serves for a perfect breakfast—is one of the most popular produce here.

Gen Z (born between 1997 to 2012)

Over a third of Gen Zs in the world have chosen a style of travel very fitting to them: adventure travel. A trip to Hampi, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is the perfect destination to satisfy any adrenaline junkie. Surrounded by ancient ruins, monuments and temples of the Vijayanagara Empire, this city provides a very Tomb Raider-esque backdrop and is a backpacker’s dream. With the river Tungabhadra flowing beside, the Virupaksha temple, Lotus temple, and the Vittala temple here are some of its must-visit tourist spots.
