The most populous city of the United Arab Emirates (UAE)—Dubai is known for being home to the world’s tallest building, Burj Khalifa. Standing at a height of 2,717 feet, this skyscraper is all set to transform into a donation box as part of a campaign to provide meals to the less fortunate amid the COVID-19 outbreak. Dubai has launched the World’s Tallest Donation Box as part of its ‘10 million meals’ campaign to support low-income families that has been severely hit by the Coronavirus outbreak. The campaign is part of a massive food distribution drive that will illuminate the iconic skyscraper with 1.2 million lights.

Burj Khalifa’s lights can be purchased by companies, entities or individuals for AED 10 (INR 20.57) each. For every light purchased, one meal or food parcel will be provided to communities that have been affected by COVID-19. The aim of this initiative is to collectively donate 1.2 million meals in the UAE and light up the entire building.

Launched by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiative (MBRGI), in collaboration with Burj Khalifa, this initiative has been set up to demonstrate UAE’s social efforts in supporting the most vulnerable people against the economic and humanitarian challenges created by the global pandemic. Illuminating the world’s tallest building for such a good cause will strengthen UAE’s status and will send a message of hope to the world that continues to fight the virus.

As per news reports, individuals from more than 100 countries have taken a part in this cause. Many businesses in the UAE including the Atlantis Resorts have extended their help by pledging 20,000 meals this week.

So, if you wish to extend support and empower people in need during these difficult times, all you have to do is visit this website.
