The proposals will need to include proper research, prototypes and information on COVID-19 safety protocols that will be followed in these spaces. So far, some of the ideas given by residents include igloos, greenhouses and plastic domes kinda setups.

Named ‘The Winter Dining Challenge’, Mayor Lightfoot in a tweet said, “Chicago winters have a reputation. We’re asking Chicagoans to share their ideas for innovative winter outdoor dining solutions that adhere to COVID-19 protocols so we can support our favourite local restaurants while keeping Chicagoans healthy.”

Illinois in Chicago experiences really harsh winters; it could prove difficult for establishments to keep their outdoor spaces open for visitors in line with the COVID-19 regulations. The entries that come in through the dining challenge will help the city continue to keep its restaurants open while maintaining the necessary protocols.
