8 Places In India That have The Ultimate Christmas Parties

Let’s be honest. We are Indians and we love our parties. But, are we selective about where we party? Guilty as charged. So, here’s looking at these 8 places in India, which have mastered the art of Christmas parties. By Shubhanjana Das

1. Goa:

Topping every party list there is, it’s hard to beat Goa’s party vibe, no matter what the occasion. In fact, there are so many options outdoing one another in terms of sheer fun, you may even be spoilt for choice. Attend midnight carols, hang out at impeccably adorned pubs, party under the stars on the beach, or just take in the resplendent beauty of the city during one of its most grandly celebrated festivals. This year, the Christmas spent in Goa can be your most memorable Christmas party ever!

2. Kolkata:

Calcuttans have a reputation of being party-lovers. No matter what the festival or occasion, expect Kolkata to do it with all the jazz. One glance at Park Street and you’ll know that it isn’t just Durga Pujo that is celebrated with such glory. The numerous cathedrals and churches are thronged by people from all backgrounds, and cake is served in abundance. There are heavy discounts everywhere, music blaring from every nightclub, and decor that outshines even the starriest of nights.

3. Puducherry:

Puducherry’s French tradition, gothic churches, and the pleasant December weather render it one of the finest places to spend Christmas in. If you wish to spend a low-key Christmas, there’s no better place than the clean and calm beaches to chill at, enjoying your sweet Christmas treats. The city is tastefully decorated against the backdrop of Puducherry’s signature French architecture.

4. Shillong:

Our often-neglected North-Eastern states are full of wonderful tourism opportunities. Shillong is exemplary in that it is an amalgamation of everything joyful about Christmas and the natural beauty it is endowed with. Christmas celebrations in Shillong, with a major Catholic population, are no ordinary affair. This otherwise quiet city comes to life with the rock music it is identified by, carols in the beautiful churches, overflowing Christmas treats, and what not! Shillong in its Christmas decorations looks nothing short of a picture postcard.

5. Daman and Diu:

Daman and Diu exemplify the fact that India has taken its colonial past and incorporated it into its own culture. This union territory has a rich Portuguese influence in its Christmas celebration, which imparts a charm typical to Daman and Diu. Marked by service at churches, Corrindinho Portuguese dance forms, and numerous cultural events, it’s hard to resist Daman and Diu during Christmas.

6. Kerela:

Kerala has something that no other place in India can boast of – the enchanting backwaters. Imagine spending Christmas drinking in the lush green vistas of Kerala, away from the loud music and the maddening crowd. The Christmas plays, local feasts, and midnight church carols are sure to make Christmas a bit more than just merry.

7. Shimla:

Our very own Christmas wonderland, Shimla is for those who are willing to brave the cold to witness The Ridge shining brightly. Not only can you devour the authentic Christmas treats in the British-era cafes, but also take the toy-train ride to ogle at the snow-crowned peaks of the Greater Himalayas. If we are being honest, there’s no one thing that makes Shimla stand out as one of the best Christmas party destinations in the country. Here’s your chance to celebrate it the way YOU want to.

8. Mumbai:

The city which its metropolitan to its very core, has welcomed and embraced every culture, religion, and the festivals they come with, enjoying all of them will equal fervour. Christmas is that time of the year in Mumbai when Hill Road, Bandra, and Church Gate are thronged by people of all ages and backgrounds. Looking for mean Christmas parties? Mumbai will set you up real fine.
