As per the new guidelines released by the Dubai Tourism board, individuals arriving in Dubai will need to undergo a health check-up and a mandatory quarantine for 14 days. One can choose between opting to spend this quarantine period in a government-approved hotel or a private home. The prevailing condition for the later is that it needs to meet certain criteria.

The quarantining person must have access to a separate washroom in the house. This unit must be used by the concerned person only. The residence should allow the person to live separately and away from others despite being in the same house. The person cannot live with anyone above 60 years of age or suffering from a medical condition. These conditions include cancer, diabetes, or hypertension.

Dubai’s flag carrier, Emirates has also released a health declaration form and quarantine undertaking form. Passengers must carry with them a printout of duly filled copies and present to Dubai Health Authority staff upon arrival. The UAE residents also need to apply for approval to travel to the UAE. The form for the same and the other two forms are available on the Emirates website.

Under no circumstances can the 14-day quarantine be waved off. Every traveller must complete the duration, even if they test negative for COVID-19.

Dubai Tourism has also released the guidelines for residents planning a summer escape out of Dubai. The guidelines suggest that while the ministry has no objection to residents flying out of the country, they will need to apply to the ICA for approval to return to Dubai. The approval will strictly be considered on humanitarian grounds and priority will be given to the 200,000 residents stuck outside the country since March.
