According to a tweet posted by Studio Ghibli, the Ghibli Park will open on November 1. Theme parks across the world are looking forward to getting back in business after a tough time during the pandemic when most of them were shut down.
All about Studio Ghibli’s much-anticipated theme park
The Ghibli Park will be divided into five sections. The first section draws inspiration from the movie My Neighbor Totoro and will be open for visitors in November. The next two sections that will be opened in 2023 are based on the films Princess Mononoke and Howl’s Moving Castle.
In an attempt to promote the opening of the park, the tourism board of Japan’s Aichi prefecture has rolled out a new website. They have also made a promotional video for the announcement. The official Twitter handle of Ghibli posted pictures of several attractions in the park, which are still under construction.

According to a report published in AFP, the park is being built at a cost of $300 million. The company had announced the park in 2017. It had been said that the park will complement the Ghibli museum near Tokyo, which is said to be extremely popular in Japan.
Studio Ghibli has been one of the most popular studios in Japan and has even bagged an Academy Award. The studio has also signed deals with HBO Max and Netflix.
Theme parks across the world have had a tough time dealing with the pandemic-induced lockdowns and international travel restrictions. According to a report published in Forbes, Disney is said to have lost billions from its theme parks. It was only in the third quarter of 2021 that the company earned some profit.
To cope with the loss, theme parks are expected to raise ticket prices to make a comeback and generate profits.
