Situated along the Mediterranean Sea and bordered on one side by the Sahara desert, the Republic of Tunisia, without a doubt offers the best of both worlds. The country had closed its borders due to the ongoing pandemic but has now planned to reopen on June 27 after Tunisian Prime Minister Elyes Fakhfakh announced that the country had beat the virus after no new cases were recorded.

The tourism ministry has launched a health guideline for all businesses called ‘Ready and Safe.’ While hotels will be allowed to function at a 50 per cent capacity, visitors will undergo temperature checks and will not be permitted if they have a temperature above 100 °F.  Masks will also be mandatory for all staff and visitors within enclosed places.

Tunisia’s economy had been heavily dependent on tourism, with last year seeing an increase in flights from Europe to the country and expanded itineraries including ancient Roman sites and the abandoned Star Wars’ sets.

The country has seen a steady increase in visitors for being a moderately priced destination with unique aspects to it. From the Saharan dunes to the beachside resorts and its numerous exotic locations, the Unesco World Heritage Site of Tunisia is sure to leave one with a wonderful experience.
