In the first-ever India Happiness Report 2020, Mizoram has been named as the happiest state in the country. Read on to find out the rankings of the other states below. By Amitha Ameen

Mizoram has topped the list of the first-ever India Happiness Report 2020, followed by Punjab and Andaman and the Nicobar Islands. The report, which was released by Professor Rajesh K Pillania, ranks all the 36 states and Union territories. Gujarat and Telangana have made it to the top of the list as well.

According to the India Happiness Report 2020, Maharashtra, Delhi and Haryana have been the worst affected states because of COVID-19 outbreak, whereas Jammu and Kashmir and Puducherry have remained neutral during this tumultuous period. Whereas, Uttarakhand, Odisha and Chhattisgarh have found their way to the bottom of the list.

The India Happiness Report 2020 was conducted based on six different components that are consequential in creating happiness — relationships, health, work, philanthropy, religious and spiritual orientation and the impact of COVID-19.

As for relationships, Punjab, Karnataka, Mizoram, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and Sikkim ranked in the top five. The survey also showed that married people are happier than unmarried people.

As for health, Sikkim, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Punjab, Mizoram, and Lakshadweep have bagged the top positions. For religious and spiritual orientations, Nagaland, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Sikkim, Tripura, and Ladakh are in the top five and for philanthropy, it is Karnataka, Arunachal Pradesh, Ladakh, Andhra Pradesh and Mizoram.
