Japan is undoubtedly home to many of today’s advanced technologies, one among them being bullet trains. The country’s most recent record-breaking bullet train is not only hyper-smooth and ultra-fast, but it can also safely run and transport passengers during an earthquake. Now, how cool is that?
Named N700S (’S’ stands for Supreme) was launched for service on July 1, 2020, and will take passengers from Tokyo Station to Shin-Osaka Station in Osaka in record time, making it easier for passengers to commute between the two cities.

Extended reclining seats, added storage area, soft lighting, and lighting up of overhead racks at each station to remind passengers of their belongings will be the upgraded features one can expect on this new train.
According to a report on CNN, the bullet train can run at a speed of 360 kilometres per hour, making it one of the fastest trains in the world. The launch of the bullet train, the first of its model to be added to this route, was supposed to coincide with the 2020 Tokyo Olympics which got postponed due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
The earthquake safety enhancement is a necessity for Japan, as the country lies in the Pacific Ring of Fire, the most deadly and active earthquake belt in the world.
