This place is filled to the brim with astounding natural beauty. A plethora of colourful birds fly to the area all year round. When here, you can spend your days savouring the magnificent views of the lush pine, oak and rhododendron forests that cover the areas in and around the village; or indulge in birdwatching during the afternoons. As night befalls, sit next to a fireplace with your family and friends or enjoy a peaceful time by yourself while you sip on a cup of Darjeeling tea, only to later fall asleep to the calm-inducing chirping of crickets.

Pay a visit to the nearby Jorpokhri, a place known for its twin lakes and a wildlife sanctuary. The Jore Pokhri Wildlife Sanctuary houses many high-altitude animals, including the rare Himalayan salamander. Alternatively, enjoy a trip to Mirik through a scenic route. Upon reaching, relish a panoramic view of the forests from one side, and go on an amusing boat ride in Lake Samendu. You can also explore the famous Pashupati Market—located on the same route—where all kinds of goods are sold at reasonable prices. The Yiga Choeling Monastery, also known as the Ghum Monastery, should be your next stop. When here, tap into your inner-resources to feel at peace. Next, go to Manebhanjan at the base of the Sandakphu trek. From here, you can either opt for an adventurous trek or just soak in nature’s beauty. The place is also known for the Singalila National Park, which is ideal to get a taste of Himalaya’s rich flora and fauna. You can also walk up to a hilltop at dawn or dusk to enjoy the sun’s spellbinding colours twinkling against the snow-capped Kanchenjunga peaks.
