A three-month-long road trip across India started last year in a bright orange caravan, and well that was just the start of a journey filled with adventures, memories and more. Caravan Chronicles is back with season 2 of their expedition and we cannot wait to hear the details! By Japleen Kaur
Ankita Kumar and Sharanya Iyer have decided to embark on yet another caravan trip, and this time they’ll be traversing the gorgeous routes of Sikkim in North East India. Both the girls are full-time travellers, doing what millions of us want to do. Based out of Bangalore currently, you’ll hardly ever see them in the city.
Talking to Ankita Kumar, we asked her how did this whole concept come into being. “I was handling social media for Rohit Subramanian who is also a full-time traveller and was in Europe at that time. Since he didn’t have internet to upload images on time, he would send them to me. At that time, I was in South America on my backpacking trip. He randomly called me one day saying — “Anki do you want to travel across India on a caravan?” And, I said, let’s do it.”
That’s how the Caravan Chronicles was born, and it was Rohit who gave the name, too. He’s in South America for the next two years; so, this trip will be done without him. Nonetheless, he is the backbone of the whole concept, and no decision is made without his inputs.
How and when did Sharanya join the bandwagon?
“Last time, she joined us for the Kutch leg, and that turned out to be the toughest. So, she experienced the hardest part, and we bonded really well. This time, when I asked her if she would be up to joining me on this crazy trip, she immediately said yes.”
Sharanya runs a travel blog called Truly Nomadly about all her budget trips, and we’re sure that the blog post on this road trip is going to be insane.
As opposed to season 1 where they covered a big part of the country, this season they want to take it slow. Hence they chose Sikkim because of its brilliant roads, vast landscapes, vibrant culture, fantastic food and the music.
And, not only are we going to see their journey via social media, they are also going to be shooting a web series on the reality of a caravan life.
After the success of the previous season, they have Jockey Woman on board as their sponsors, rooting for the two women for doing this kickass trip. They have rented their caravan from Trippy Wheels and have painted it blue with beautiful floral stickers.
Way to go, ladies!
