Faizabad district in Uttar Pradesh has been renamed Ayodhya by Chief Minister Adityanath. And there will soon be an airport constructed named ‘Ram’. By Japleen Kaur
And that’s not it. There are talks of establishing a medical college in the name of King Dasharatha, who was Ram’s father in the epic Ramayana. So, it makes sense since all of them stayed in Ayodhya in the tales, right? But the way the naming ceremonies are being practiced surely seems like a bigger deal.

The name change in UP comes a few weeks after the BJP-led government decided to change the name of Allahabad to Prayagraj.
The locals in Faizabad (now Ayodhya) set a world record of lighting 3,01,152 ‘diyas’ on the banks of Sarayu river. South Korea’s First Lady Kim Jung-sook was in India at that time, and also took part in the festivities.
All in all, with names of places changing so rapidly, we surely can’t wait to take out our maps to circle out the next geographical victim!
