Pawna Lake

Pawna Lake is located about an hour and a half from Pune, and makes for a great spot for a camping trip. Spend some time by the lake, pitch your tents, sing and dance around the bonfire, or simply visit the place during the day for a picnic – either way, you’ll only be mesmerised by the beauty the place has!

Built by Sultan Mahomed Shah, Aga Khan III, the palace has an interesting history. The place was linked closely to the freedom struggle and served as the prison for Mahatma Gandhi and his wife, Kasturba, secretary Mahadev Desai as well as freedom fighter Sarojini Naidu.
