India just got another Vande Bharat Express, which will connect Delhi to Rajasthan. The train, which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier this week, will connect Delhi Cantt. Railway Station with Ajmer, with stops at multiple cities in-between.

This is the world’s first semi-high-speed passenger train on high-rise overhead electric (OHE) territory, and it was launched by the PM via video conferencing, reports state.

All you need to know about the Delhi-Ajmer Vande Bharat Express

Regular service of this train begins today, i.e. April 13, 2023. It will begin at the Delhi Cantt. station, with stops at Gurugram, Alwar and Jaipur, before finally arriving at Ajmer. The train will run six days of the week, and will not ply on Wednesdays, reports state.

The distance between the train’s two end points will be covered in five hours and 15 minutes, which is about an hour faster than Shatabdi Express. Shatabdi covers this distance in six hours and 15 minutes, reports add. The Vande Bharat Express on this route will begin its journey from Ajmer at 6:20 am, reaching Delhi by 11:30 am. Its return journey will begin at 6:40 pm at Delhi Cantt., reaching Ajmer at 11:55 pm.

The ticket for this Vande Bharat Express journey (Delhi to Ajmer) is priced at INR 1,250, while the fare for the Executive Class coach is INR 2,270. From Ajmer to Delhi, the ticket is priced at INR 1,085 for Chair Car, and INR 2,075 for Executive Class.

During the inauguration of the train, PM Modi said, “I am happy that Vande Bharat train has today become synonymous with development, modernity, self-reliance and stability. Today’s journey of Vande Bharat will lead us to the journey of developed India tomorrow,” writes The Hindu. The train will also improve connectivity between Delhi and some popular tourist spots in Rajasthan, such as the Ajmer Sharif Dargah, the forts and palaces of Jaipur, Alwar Fort, and Sariska National Park.

These Vande Bharat Express trains are made in India and are self-propelled. The trains are complete with state-of-the-art passenger amenities and are believed to be more comfortable and convenient than the other trains.
