The cruise is expected to give people of Assam the opportunity to make greater use of the inland waterways, and avail of the services for transportation, trade, cargo and more. The new cruise is also expected to increase tourism activities between the two states, appealing to the locals as well as tourists to these destinations. The journey will cover 27 river systems and 50 tourist sites.
According to reports, several other development projects are also being launched in and around Bogibeel bridge in the Dibrugarh district, to make travel opportunities easier.
There are two floating jetties being constructed at Bogibeel and Guijan, which were inaugurated this Monday (September 19), along with the inauguration of the Bogibeel Riverfront Passenger Jetty (built by the Northeast Frontier Railways). According to an official statement, the two jetties will cost about INR 8.25 crore and are expected to be completed by February 2023.
Varanasi is being developed as a destination not just for spiritual travellers but also for leisure tourists, and the new cruise is expected to add to the experience. The tour will make for an interesting and rather untraversed route, with stunning views, waterways and more.
