1. Bernina Route
Starting from the dreamy Alpine town of St Moritz in Switzerland and ending at Tirano in Italy, this train route will enamour you with views of lofty mountains, clear blue waters, and rustic landscapes. It is also the highest railway crossing in Europe, reaching a height of 7,392 ft above sea level, allowing you to see glaciers and palm trees on the same line. How cool is that!
2. Pikes Peak Cog Railway
This steep grade railway will take you to the highest summit of the well-known Front Range of the Rocky Mountains in North America. Build on the Abt rack system, the railway line is scheduled to reopen with new equipment in 2021.
