With temperatures reaching as low as four degrees, citizens in Delhi are no doubt looking for that ray of sunshine. The first place that came to our minds when we thought about the sun, sand and balmy breeze was Varkala. 1. 7:00 AM – visit the black beach
Varkala is extremely underrated. And, maybe that is a good thing. With lesser tourists, the beach here is calmer and cleaner. Between gorgeous sunrises and watching surfers dancing with the waves, we can’t think of a better way to start the day.
2. 10:00 AM – join a yoga class
Varkala is scattered with yoga studios and wellness retreats. Considering how India is the birthplace of Yoga, why not indulge in a bit of soul searching by opting for a class on meditation at one of the yoga-shalas situated on a hilltop.
3. 1:00 PM – try the local cuisine
You cannot come to a beach town and not indulge in the catch of the day. Locally sourced ingredients, freshly ground coffee, Keralan style banana leaf meals, and just every sea food delicacy that you can think of! You are welcome!
4. 3:00 PM – rejuvenate you senses
People travel from across the world for Kerala’s famed Ayurvedic treatments. Book yourself one and enjoy some much needed self-pampering while listening to the waves of the ocean.
5. 6:00 PM – shop local

Pick up souvenirs and little trinkets for yourself and your loved ones. Apart from the local market, the town also has a booming Tibetan market where you can pick up a few interesting items from.
6. 8:00 PM – drink and dine
As the sun becomes one with the horizon, its time to hit up any one of the innumerable beach shacks on the Varkala cliff. Mostly multi-cuisine, you can find absolutely any type of dish that will satisfy your cravings. Sit back, throw your feet up and enjoy unobstructed views of the ocean.
